December 4, 2016 Morning Worship
It may officially be cold outside, but it was warm inside Vine Street Baptist Church, where members and guests fellowshiped with one another, worshiped, and learned from the Bible.
Today’s service began with Deacon Wally Jeffries reading Isaiah 9:6-7 and saying a prayer. Worship Leaders, Jacob and Jamie Hatcher, led the gathered in song:
- O Come, All Ye Faithful
- 10,000 Reasons
After a time of greeting one another, Pastor Spencer Harmon presented a few announcements to keep everyone up to date.
- Advent Series continues today and next week
- Souper Sunday tonight at 6:00pm
- Business Meeting next week, includes 2017 Budget vote
- Christmas Activities this month
Spencer invited the ushers forward to prepare to collect the offering, then said a pastoral prayer. The Hatchers played their instruments softly while the offering was collected. Gary and Cathy Cook lit the Advent Candle and read the scripture. The first Advent Candle reflect on Hope, with the scripture this week from Romans 15:12-13. Jamie led a song, then Jacob led a song before Spencer read today’s sermon text.
- Come Thou Long Expected Jesus
- Amazing Grace
Today’s message was the second an Advent series, “Christmas Questions.” The full audio can be heard by clicking on the date link below, or right-click and select “Save As” to save the file to your computer. Click on the scripture reference to follow along with the reading.
