February 18, 2018 Morning Worship

Vine Street Baptist Church members and regular attendees gathered with sadness and happiness in their hearts. On this day, Vine Street said goodbye to the Hatcher family. The Hatchers have led worship for the past three years. The sweet part of the day is that everyone was able to celebrate with Wally and Betty Jeffries as they enjoyed their 63rd wedding anniversary. The Jeffries were the first couple married in the current worship center.

The service began when Derek Minton read Psalm 126 and said a prayer. Jacob Hatcher led the congregation in singing Victory in Jesus. Jacob played his guitar while Nolan Hodge played the jimbe. A time of fellowship was given, where everyone greeted one another and guests with handshakes and hugs. A few minutes later, Derek gave a few announcements.

  • Recognition of the Jeffries’ anniversary. Alter flowers were given by their daughter, Janice Keim, and her family.
  • Hatcher Goodbye Potluck lunch after the service
  • Statement of Faith teaching starts tonight.
  • Additional volunteers needed for the nursery.

Derek said a prayer for the families and community in Parkland, FL, as well as praising God for the McCarthy’s new baby. Jacob talked for a moment about his tenure at Vine Street, saying that although he will no longer being singing each Sunday morning because it’s his job, he will continue singing because of his love for the Lord.

  • 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)
  • I Need Thee Every Hour
  • How Deep the Father’s Love For Us

After the sermon everyone stood and sang Jesus Paid it All during a time of reflection.

Before dismissing the congregation, Spencer called Jacob to the front for a time to honor his time with Vine Street Baptist Church. The Hatchers were presented with a gift, a framed picture of the church. Spencer prayed for the Hatchers, then dismissed the group to lunch.
