July 30, 2017 Morning Worship

After many members and guests spent time in Sunday School, studying the Bible in fellowship, everyone gathered in the sanctuary for a time of worship and teaching.

The service began when Deacon Donnie Aebersold read Psalm 73:25-28 and saying an opening prayer. Worship Leaders Jacob and Jaime Hatcher, along with percussionist Nolan Hodge, invited the congregation to stand and sing.

Jacob welcomed everyone again and encouraged everyone to greet one another. Senior Pastor Spencer Harmon took a few minutes to make everyone aware of some activities and ministry opportunities over the next week and upcoming weeks.

Spencer took a moment before saying a pastoral prayer to introduce today’s guest preacher, Matthew Nagal.  Spencer and Matthew have known each other for many years, and was very influential in Spencer’s early ministry years at another church. Matthew is from Minneapolis, Minnesota.  He graduated from a Bible college in West Virginia and came to Louisville to attend Southern Seminary.  He earned his MDiv in 2016.  He is married to Lisa, a homemaker, and they have five children.  In their leisure time, the Nagals enjoy reading, playing board games and watching movies together.  Matt enjoys a good cup of coffee too.

The ushers collected the offering and everyone continued singing.

After the sermon, the congregation stood and sang Just As I Am during a time of reflection. Spencer closed the service with an invitation for anyone to speak to a pastor after the service about church membership, becoming a Christian, or to discuss today’s sermon. He read a closing benediction passage, then dismissed the group.
