March 17, 2013 AM Worship

It doesn’t matter if it is hot one day and snowing the next, members and guests still wanted to show up at Vine Street Baptist Church to sing songs and learn from the Bible.

The service opened with a reading of Psalm 29 by Deacon Betty Jeffries. She said a prayer before Worship Pastor Chris Wells led the gathered in song. Wells spoke how the Bible instructs us to sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. He focused on selecting songs on this theme.

  • A Mighty Fortress Is Our God
  • O Worship The King

After a time of welcome and fellowship, Associate Pastor Todd Burus presented some announcements, then said a pastoral prayer focused around the Prayer of St. Patrick.

Adam was recently recognized by the North American Mission Board as an Army Chaplain, and he was recently called to be on staff at First Baptist Church of Hartselle AL.  The Rices will be leaving Louisville this week for the work God has lead them.

After a prayer, the congregation continued singing.

  • Great Is Thy Faithfulness
  • Rock of Ages Cleft For Me

Deacon Ronnie Allen said a prayer before the offering was collected.  During the offering, the Bates Brothers sang Mountain of God.

Ken Lovette, doctoral student at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, brought the next  message in the sermon series “Colossians: Him We Proclaim.” The full audio can be heard by clicking on a date link below, or right-click and select “Save As” to save the file to your computer.  Click on the scripture reference to follow along with the reading.
