January 11, 2015 Morning Worship

Though warmer than the past several days but still pretty chilly, members and guest of Vine Street Baptist Church got out in cold weather to study the Word, sing songs to God, and fellowship with one another.

Today’s service opened with a reading of Psalm 145:1-14 and a prayer, both led by Deacon Joe Gross.  Interim Worship Leader, Charlie Moore took a moment to thank everyone who not only welcome him and his wife, Molly, to the Vine Street family, but also the various guests they have brought with them.  Today, a longtime friend of Moore’s, Julien Amorelli, joined him by playing guitar and singing.

  • O For a Thousand Tongues
  • Knowing You
  • As Long As You Are Glorified

A time of fellowship was given, where everyone greeted each other with handshakes, hugs and warm salutations, then Pastor Ben presented a few announcements.

  • Winter Break continues (no Sunday evening activities)
  • Children’s Church begins this week.  Led by Becky Slone, it is a time for children in the nursery and through age 8 to learn the same Bible material being presented to the adults, but on their level and in ways they will appreciate more.
  • Pastoral Concerns

After a prayer, Pastor Ben read Philippians 4:4-9, then the gathered sang Be Thou My Vision. Deacon Gary Cook said a prayer before the offering was collected.  Moore sang Sovereign Over Us, and asked the congregation to sing the last chorus with him.

Associate Pastor Brandon Saunders went to the pulpit and presented today’s message.  This is the second message in the Core Values sermon series.
